Match preview: Woking (H)

26 September 2025

Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side return to the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park with the aim of stretching our unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions with the visit of Woking, kicking-off at 12:30.

Last season for the Cardinals

After finishing in fourth place in the 2022/23 campaign, Woking have had two disappointing seasons which resulted in them finishing in 15th place.

A change of management partway through the season from Michael Doyle to former Solihull Moors and York City manager Neil Ardley ensured the Cardinals retained their National League status for another season.

One to watch

A familiar face for Wood supporters and now into his third spell in Surrey, clinical striker Inih Effiong will be looking to play a key role in Woking having a successful season this term. The ex-Stevenage and Barnet man will be remembered for two successful campaigns at Dagenham & Redbridge recently, netting 25 league goals across two seasons.

The Wood

Scunthorpe United ended our four-game winning streak last time out as it was honours even in our visit to the Attis Arena. Matt Rush broke the deadlock within the first minute for his fourth goal of the season before Callum Roberts equalised with 74 minutes on the clock.

We haven’t lost at home since our opening day defeat to Rochdale with four Enterprise National League victories to our name, the last coming in an impressive 3-1 victory over Altrincham.
