Tom Whelan joins AFC Fylde

Boreham Wood Football Club can confirm that much-loved midfielder Tom Whelan has joined Enterprise National League North side AFC Fylde on a permanent basis. This comes after the release clause contained within Tom’s contract at Meadow Park was triggered by the Coasters.

‘Whelo’ signed permanently at Meadow Park in July of 2023 and would go on to have a huge impact in the middle of the park for the Wood across two full seasons in WD6, becoming a regular feature in the starting line-up last season – winning crucial duels, orchestrating play and providing some important assists.

The hardworking Liverpudlian played a key role in last season’s promotion-winning season and the midfielder’s efforts during an impressive 2024/25 campaign were widely recognised, winning the Manager’s Player of the Season award, followed by a thoroughly deserved inclusion in the National League South Team of the Season.
