Welcome, Lewis Richardson!

1 September 2025

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of talented forward Lewis Richardson, who joins the Wood on a permanent basis following his summer departure from Premier League side Burnley. The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Meadow Park and will wear number 20 for Luke Garrard’s side.

Richardson developed through Burnley’s academy and made history in February of 2021 when he became the Clarets’ youngest-ever Premier League debutant, featuring against Tottenham Hotspur at just 18 years and 21 days old. He first trialled with the club aged eight, announcing himself in style with five goals on his under-18 debut against Crewe Alexandra before hitting a hat-trick for the under-23’s against Rochdale.

After signing his first professional contract in 2020, Richardson was regularly involved with Burnley’s first-team setup under Sean Dyche, while also gaining valuable senior experience out on loan. He enjoyed spells with Grimsby Town, where he scored twice in 15 appearances, and more recently with fellow National League side York City, netting four in 13 National League appearances. Internationally, Richardson has represented England at under-16 and under-17 level, scoring against Moldova and Russia.

A sharp and intelligent forward with natural finishing instincts, Richardson brings energy, technical quality, and more attacking threat to Luke Garrard’s squad. We are thrilled to welcome Lewis to the Wood and look forward to seeing him in black and white at the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park!
