Welcome, Finlay Herrick!

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of young, promising goalkeeper Finlay Herrick, who joins the Wood on loan from Premier League side West Ham United until the end of the season. During his stay in WD6, Herrick will wear the number 22.

Herrick has been with the Hammers since the age of six, rising through the ranks at Chadwell Heath before signing his first professional contract ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. A standout performer for West Ham’s academy sides, he was a key figure in their hugely successful 2022/23 season, keeping three clean sheets in eight appearances as Kevin Keen’s under-18s secured both the FA Youth Cup and the U18 Premier League South title.

The talented shot-stopper continued his progression in 2023/24, making 23 appearances for the West Ham U18s and earning further international recognition with England, representing the Young Lions at U18 level against France and Germany. In the 2024/25 campaign, his first full season with West Ham’s U21s, Herrick was the only goalkeeper nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Season, recording the most clean sheets in the division with seven. Herrick has also earnt five England U19 caps, keeping two clean sheets in UEFA European qualifiers.

A commanding and highly rated young goalkeeper, Herrick adds further quality, depth and presence between the sticks for Luke Garrard’s side. We are thrilled to welcome Finlay to Boreham Wood Football Club and look forward to seeing him in action at the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park!
