Welcome back, Zak Brunt!

28 August 2025

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce the return of talented midfielder Zak Brunt, who rejoins the Wood on a season-long loan from Barnet! Brunt will wear number 8 for Luke Garrard’s side.

The 23-year-old playmaker is no stranger to Meadow Park, having previously spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan with the Wood, where he impressed with his technical ability, creativity, and composure in midfield. His return provides a major boost to Luke Garrard’s squad as the team look to further build.

Brunt began his footballing journey in some of the country’s most prestigious academies, including Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Sheffield United, while also experiencing trials with European giants Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, and even receiving an invitation to Real Madrid from Guti. After a spell at Derby County, he took the bold step of moving into senior football at just 16 years old with Matlock Town, making his debut in the Northern Premier League.

In 2018, Brunt returned to Sheffield United, where he progressed through the youth ranks before making his senior debut in the EFL Cup in 2021. He gained valuable National League experience during loan spells at Southend United and Notts County, before his first move to the Wood in 2022. Following a standout season in black and white, he made a permanent move to the Bees in July of 2023.

A dynamic and technically gifted midfielder, Brunt has developed a strong reputation for his vision, range of passing, and ability to dictate play in the middle of the park. We are thrilled to welcome Zak back to WD6 and look forward to seeing him once again in black and white at the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park!
