Chairman's Notes

Chairman’s notes: West Bromwich Albion U21 (H)

8 September 2025

Tomorrow we welcome West Bromwich Albion under 21’s to the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park. May I wish their Directors, Manager, Players and Supporters a pleasant stay with us and a safe journey home.

Well it’s been a really productive week or so both on and off the pitch, with Luke and the dressing room taking 7 points from a possible 9. Firstly with a very good away point up at Hartlepool United, then a good away win at Sutton United last Wednesday and then a very dominant home win against Morecambe on Saturday. In between those games the club have once again held positive meetings with the HBC Leader, Councillors and HBC Officers in regards to the South End of the Stadium, which obviously includes the wider Meadow Park and Brook Road Car Park project and though there is much to do the signs are still very positive, though the deadlines are ridiculously tight.

This evening though is all about the football and allows Luke to ensure all the squad are getting game time and it’s a great chance for them to stake a claim for a starting position. At the moment we do have good competition for places all over the park and even with the odd illness and injuries to Callum Reynolds, Luke Norris and Jack Payne the team tonight will be full of talent.

With your season tickets being valid for tonight’s game, I do hope they are not only appreciated, but that as many people take up the opportunity to watch what I hope will be an entertaining game between our very exciting new side and West Brom’s very well thought of Development team.

This Saturday we then welcome one of the early season play off favourites in old rivals Altrincham to the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park. Altrincham will in truth be another strong indicator in terms of us gauging the progress we have made over the last 12 months.

We of course after a good start to the season feel things are quietly moving toward a period of what we hope will be continued improvement and that I feel is seen by the new found optimism amongst the supporters, my staff and possibly even wider community.

There’s still so much to do both on and off the field if this feeling is to me maintained, but the signs are good, the season has started better than we could have hoped after our promotion and I have no reason to feel this might be a false dawn or a flash in the pan.

Our path is set for this season and we must continue to look up, continue to look forward and we must continue to test ourselves in the months ahead.

Anyway to tonight and whoever you support, let’s hope for an open, attacking game and may the best team win.

Take care,
Danny.
